this film is shown to millitary personel today, all over the world, so that they may know what to expect when searching for terrorists and smokin' em out of their holes.

sorry i missed the screening. it was a long day which ended with me going to cocktail hour for nyu alumni at the torch club and telling them to support the grad student workers strike.

after that, the boat seemed so far away...

So the screening went really well with over 25 folks coming out, and the vessel making some dough for their repairs and renovations!

I was totally inspired and disgusted by this film. It was an amazingly objective, and historical document that I would show to anyone! The parallel's between occupied Palestine, invaded Iraq, and the tactics used by both sides are exposed for analysis in this film. there doesn't seem to be any agenda involved in the outcome of the film. It is a document to the strategies of the FLN(guerillas) and the French military, and doesn't preach pacifism or militarism. The film led to many small discussions on many topics, which reinforces, for me, how valueably intriguing that art and film can be.

I had butterflies in my tummy by the end of the film for many different reasons. Mostly for the determination of people struggling for self-determination, and winning it, and the disgust of the tortue of people and the loss of life.

Revolutions are hard to start, difficult to maintain, and even harder to win!
